Open Heart Surgery
Open heart surgery is the overall term used to describe any surgery that requires the chest cavity to be open during a procedure. Open heart surgery is performed on the heart muscle, valves, arteries and other tissues.
Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery
Our surgical team also performs peripheral vascular surgery. This procedure is performed to repair the blood vessels that help the heart pump blood.
We were first in the region to offer Transmyocardial Revascularization Laser (TMR) treatment - a new procedure to treat inoperable heart disease and relieve persistent chest pain. It can aid in bypass surgery or valve replacement surgery. TMR helps to improve heart muscle damage.
In addition to laser treatment, our surgeons also install cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators to make sure that your heart continues to function at its optimum level.
Vascular Surgery
Our vascular surgeons perform a full range of services to diagnose and treat diseases and damage of the arteries, veins and blood vessels. We specialize in providing:
- Peripheral Vascular Angiograms to examine the flow of blood through the blood vessels
- Peripheral Vascular Angioplasty and stents to widen blocked and obstructed blood vessels
- Endovascular interventions, including aortic aneurism repair to help restore weakened blood flow
