Maternal Child and Prenatal Education

We are proud to offer a variety of high-quality programs to support you and your family through education on parenting, breastfeeding and childbirth preparation. Starting with preconception education and early prenatal health classes to parenting, support groups and referrals to community resources, we understand that education plays a key role in our families’ experiences.

Preconception Health Class

  • What: This class provides information on how to achieve optimal health prior to pregnancy to support the growth of a healthy baby.
  • When: Classes meet Tuesday, February 16 and August 3rd from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Early Prenatal Class

  • What: This class covers the well-being of mothers (8 to 20 weeks pregnant) and their partners.
  • When: Classes meet Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Prepared Childbirth Class

  • What: This class meets one time per week for five weeks, providing help with stages of labor, delivery, relaxation and breathing, pain control, medical interventions, newborn appearance and care, and provides a tour of the Mother-Baby Unit.  
  • When: Classes meet Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Cost: FREE

Prepared Childbirth Class — Saturday option

  • What: This Saturday session gives an overview of labor and delivery, nutrition, relaxation and breathing, medical intervention and pain control, stages of labor, safety and a tour of the mother/baby floor.
  • When: Classes meet on Saturdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Cost: FREE

Prepared Childbirth Class — On-line option

  • What: Learn at your own pace, in the comfort of your home. There is an option to Ask-a-Nurse via an e-mail link to access an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse to answer any questions you may have.
  • When: Once you register you will receive an access code and login instructions. The class must be completed within 90 days of first access.

Childbirth Classes for Young Parents

  • What: This class meets one time per week for five weeks, providing young parents (under 20 years of age) the information and support needed to prepare for childbirth and parenting. Partners, family members and friends welcomed.
  • When: Wednesdays, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Cost: FREE

Refresher Class — Childbirth Education

  • What: This class meets one time per week for two weeks to refreshing experienced parents-to-be about the topics covered in the prepared childbirth class (delivery, nutrition, relaxation and breathing, medical intervention and pain control, stages of labor).
  • When: Classes meet on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Sibling Class

  • What: This class prepares young children for the arrival of their new sibling.
  • When: Classes meet on Thursdays from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Combined Refresher Childbirth & Sibling Class

  • What: This class meets one time per week for three weeks, combining information presented in the prepared childbirth class and the sibling class to help the family welcome a new baby.
  • When: Classes meet Thursdays.

Birthing Unit Tour

  • What: This tour provides pregnant women and their partners with an opportunity to visit Cheyenne Regional’s Birthing Unit prior to hospitalization. The tour is hosted by an experienced nurse to provide participants with an opportunity to ask questions.
  • When: Classes meet the 4th Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

Fitness for Two

  • What: A prenatal exercise class scheduled by appointment only.

Breastfeeding Support

  • What: Trained lactation nurses are available to help you learn about breastfeeding prior to pregnancy, assist with breastfeeding during your hospital stay and provide free outpatient visits to support you after you go home.
  • Cost: FREE

Parenting with Love and Logic

  • What: This one-day parenting seminar, co-sponsored by Cheyenne Children’s Clinic, is designed to give you practical skills that can be used immediately on everyday parenting frustrations.
  • When: Classes meet Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Cost: $50 for a couple attending, $35 for a single attending
